We went to the Kenai River near the Russian River and caught our limit. I caught half and he caught half. (I have to say that cuz I want to brag about my new fishing skills.) Yes, I did catch the fish in their mouth. After I followed Byrons instructions on how to catch a fish it was SO easy! I didn't fish the way other people did how they let only 8ft of the line out kind of like fly fishing...I'm a casting fisherman, so I casted my hook out into the river and once I felt the fish on, I pulled that baby in. I was using yellow and pink yarn only. We spent the night. It was freezing until Byron got a fire started. Then a bear came by and all the men on the bank were yelling at me to run but I new the bear wouldn't get close to the fire where I was at so I stayed. I figured the bear wanted his chance to catch a fish too. I left him alone and he left me alone. Byron fillet'd all the fish. Talk about a heavy pack. Fun times...
Fishing on the Kenai River with family and friends. I only caught one fish this time. Byron caught...I lost count...and everyone else caught one or two fish. That was a fun trip.
We camped over night at the most amazing camp spot ever! I swear it looked like it was meant just for us! There was a fire pit with stacked fire wood plus a fillet table and so much more when we got there. The people who camped there before us was totally awesome for leaving it for us.
Byron bought a double hull pontoon raft with a motor on it. He wanted to build a deck for it for easier walk-around movement for fishing purposes. It was 80 degrees that entire 2 weeks straight. We were very productive with building a deck and building a shed for our storage items.
And this is what Byron and his brother caught that day.
Byron went out fishing w/o me and caught a butt load of fish while dip netting at the Kasilof River with his brother, sister in law and two cousins. Show Off! YES, I'm jealous.
When it was finally my turn to fish at the Kasiloff we got there at 3am. We started a fire, ate then went to bed in our tent. (Lahela, Laniesha and Taylor (Byrons cousin))
We put the raft in, caught a total of 7 fish and called it a day.
It was a rather interesting day. A guy lost his truck to the river. This river goes from low tide to high tide pretty quick so you gotta be careful. Well, this guy didn't have much luck and no help from anyone to help tow him out of the mud before the high tide came in too quickly, and he lost his truck. Good thing he was insured!
Following weekend we took the raft out of Seward. This was the worst trip ever. It rained the entire time, soaked everyone and everything so we could only start a fire with gas!
We didn't even get to fish cuz the tide took our raft overnight while we slept in the tent and put our raft 3/4 of mile away in the same bay (thank goodness). But when we found the raft it was suspended on an old pier with the pontoons sitting on the rebar of the old pile-ons.
Next trip, Byron took my awesome jeep to the Matsu River to fish again. He caught more fish... obviously.

The following week we went halibut fishing. It was DA BOMB. Beautiful sunny hot weather and non stop catching of halibut, shark and salmon.
I think I'm tired of fishing this summer... Now its time to go Hunting :)
