We Moved!

Hello All,

Ok...so 2008 proves to be a tough year to keep up with the blog. But heres the low-down: Byron and I moved to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Byron got a job working as a QA & QC Inspector for Aker Solutions in Mexico,
but it seems like he's working as a Project Manager instead. He works 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off. Its a huge sacrifice to be SO far apart but we know it'll be worth it in the long run.

If you're wondering how he got the job and why we took the job, here's the inside scoop: Byron and I were here in Kona in February of this year. While we were here we prayed a lot together. One day we were eating chocolate lucky charm cereal while sipping on Lilikoi juice and we just knew that we needed change in our lives. We enjoyed Hawaii, the beaches, the warmth, the fishing (without a jacket), and I especially loved being with my parents and my husband all at the same time. So Byron looked at me and said he wanted me to be happy and that we're moving here to Hawaii asap! Of course I thought Byron lost his mind when he said this because I know how he feels about fishing and hunting in Alaska. But he told me that he could fish and hunt here in Hawaii. You'd be amazed at the great fishing and hunting here too!

It took us a lot longer for this vocalized promise to come true, but the timing was right! You see, Byron put in for a lot of jobs up on the North Slope, spoke to many company's, and friends, exhausted every avenue of another good paying job within the State of Alaska, and even thought about a job with a guy named Tom (which was a long shot of us ever getting the position). It seemed like every time Byron and I would fast and pray about jobs on the North Slope and any job for that matter...within the State of Alaska, it didn't seem or feel right. Or to put it plainly: The Pay Totally Sucked! So we thought about Tom. Byron wrote to him and asked about any positions that he might have open. Tom wrote back! It was good news, but then...three weeks went by and no word. Byron lost faith, since we had already tried a year before to get a job with Tom, our hopes were high, and it didn't work out in the previous year. However, we continued to go Church and do what was right. We went to the Spanish Branch to help Byron remember and speak the Spanish Language. The 4th Sunday of not hearing from Tom rolled around. It was Fast Sunday. The members gave their testimonies. I couldn't understand them because I do not speak Spanish. All I kept thinking about was, "I wish I could speak Spanish!" Then a prompting came. I knew that Byron would get the job with Tom and that he would be going to a Spanish Speaking area. And so it happened exactly that way. I knew that the Lord was merciful to me for allowing me MORE time with my husband before he would have to leave. I know Byron was ready to start his new job at the start of Tom's first email, but I think the Lord hears not only the husbands desires but the desires of us wives as well. He knew that I wasn't ready to let Byron go to work just yet. And I personally think the Lord gave me 6 full weeks with my husband before he had to go, because I desired a little more time with him. You wanna hear something funny? On the day I was ready to have Byron and I move forward in our lives (week 5), his airline ticket arrived saying that he'd be leaving next Thursday. Its amazing how closely the Lord watches and hears us.

So here we are...living a New.

I'm right now in the process of securing a place for us to live, and getting a vehicle (we just got our jeep!), finding some awesome beaches, buying new rods and reels for our fishing adventures here in the islands, doing all the business aspect of the entire move etc.

Byron is in the process of learning all he can at his new job, getting to know his co-workers, trying his hardest to be a great husband and worker, emailing me pics of every hot-rod, classic car, trimaran, catamaran, sail-boat, bmw, mercedes, and everything else that is pretty much found on Craigslist, and just being the awesome guy that I love!

Love,
Byron and Lahela
