Fishing on the Jet Ski

Byron made sure the rods were completely secure in his homemade rod holders that he jerry-rigged for the Yamaha jet ski. I wish you could see his idea up close and personal because its really ingenious! He knew that he did not want to have to drill through the frame, so he used the holes on the backside that was already there for towing. He did some fancy fittings made of copper, galvanized steel and pvc piping to come up with his idea that looks exactly like your typical rod holder!

We rode on the same jet ski together while fishing since the key for the ignition switch for the other ski didn't arrive yet. When we left the wake zone area, I told Byron to let her rip and see if the rod holders will hold up against the speed and huge waves generated...that way, we'd be prepared for any unseen mishaps that might occur before actually catching the Big One. Looks like she held up alright.

We had a great time out on the water. We ventured out between the Sheraton and Keauhou Hotel ranging between 40 to 60 fathoms from shore. We went out every other day during the entire two week period that Byron was home. We didn't catch anything, but we sure got dark super fast! Or should I say...Byron got a nice tan, and I turned black?... yup...
